Wotton invests in press and platesetter

Wotton Printers has crowned 10 years of growth with a "significant" investment in new premises and a five-colour Ryobi 525GX B3 press to boost its £820,000 turnover.

The company’s move into five-colour has been complemented with a Screen 4300 platesetter at its new 418sqm Newton Abbot site.

Roger Mann, managing director of Wotton Printers, said: "We’ve been growing 10% year-on-year for the past decade and we’re pushing for new customers all the time."

Wotton, which has 15 staff, has installed the Ryobi complete with IR dryer, allowing it to seal work inline and improve the efficiency of its press operation.

The company has been printing periodicals and booklets up to 96pp on the new machine, supplied by Apex Digital Graphics, for clients including local government and authorities.

The new site, which offers nearly 50% more production space than the previous facility, will house the Screen CTP system. The platesetter spend ties in with the company’s bid to increase its green credentials by running processless.

The company, which can trace its roots back to 1885, also runs a Ryobi 522HE-NP with numbering and perforating capabilities.
