London borough offers £1.2m framework

The London Borough of Barnet is looking to start a £1.2m three-year printing framework.

The organisation is looking for "suitably experienced and proficient service providers" to produce items such as colour leaflets, large volume booklets, die-cut folders and latex scratch cards.

Specialised printing services are also required, including security printing and gummed labelling.

Most of the work will be distributed around East and North East London. The borough said that up to 15 suppliers are expected to be selected.

Printers have until 12 January 2009 to apply.

If 15 suppliers are selected the average spend will be £80k/supplier or just over £25k/supplier/year. That is going to involve a lot of work tendering for little gain, and an awful lot of work for Barnet in supplier management.

I'd love to work with some of these tenders to try and create a better outcome for everyone. Has anyone any ideas on how to approach this or will I be banging my head against a brick wall?
