PrintPak launches free version of MIS to help small businesses

PrintPak has announced the launch of a free version of its eponymous print ManageĀment Information System (MIS), in a move it hopes will help struggling printers.

Based on PrintPak 4, launched last year (PrintWeek, 11 October 2007), PrintPak Community Edition has been designed to help printers without an MIS to weather the economic storm.

Norman Marks, managing director of the London- and Mumbai-based company, said: “We hope they trade up to a paid-for version, but there’s plenty in the free Community Edition to run a small business with.”

PrintPak estimated that up to 50% of printers currently have no MIS and it is these companies it has targeted with the free version of its software, which was launched yesterday (27 November).

“PrintPak’s announcement of a free MIS is expressly designed to ensure that no single printer worldwide has any excuse to go without an MIS,” said the company.

The PrintPak Community Edition includes the software developer’s job calculation engine, the production of printed quotes and invoices and simple reporting.

PrintPak 4 was rewritten from the ground up in order to work natively with 32bit and 64bit operating systems. It incorporates full network interactivity via the internet, is Vista enabled and, according to PrintPak, is virtually “future proof”.

Interested printers can download the free version of PrintPak’s software from  the company’s website www.printpak.com.

First Mr. Biltcliffe, now PrintPak.

Well done Norman. PrintPak was always a reasonably priced option which included everything, rather than a system where you buy a reasonably priced system then realise there are bolt-on options at extra cost. At least that's what PrintPak used to be , I haven't looked at it for a few years now.

If anyone is thinking of making an enquiry about this, brace yourself for Norman's exuberant personality!

Hey look, I beat Colin!
