Aspect moves into B2 with Speedmaster buy

B3 Heidelberg house Aspect Press has moved into B2 production with the installation of a five-colour Speedmaster SM 74 perfector.

The London-based firm believes that offering its direct mail customers the ability to print 8-up rather than 4-up could offer a cost advantage.

Managing director Rob Easton said: “The SM 74 is [also] an environmental press because the only waste is the alcohol, and with this press, we have gone down from 50 litres a week to under 15 litres.

“We can run as low as 3-4% alcohol... and are finding that the new roller system means ink goes further.”

Aspect Press recently landed FSC Chain of Custody accreditation, and it is prepared for the new environmental and colour control demands that many clients’ corporate social responsibility strategies demand.

The perfecting press will only run process colours 99% of the time, using the fifth unit to seal to meet stringent timescales.
